Bahir Dar History: Bahir Dar is a city located on the southern shore of Lake Tana, the largest lake in Ethiopia. It is known for its natural beauty, historic monasteries on Lake Tana's islands, and the nearby Blue Nile Falls.

Lalibela History: Lalibela is a town in northern Ethiopia known for its monolithic rock-cut churches. It was once the capital of the Zagwe dynasty in the late 12th and 13th centuries. King Lalibela, after whom the town is named, is credited with the creation of these remarkable structures, which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Gondar History: Gondar, often referred to as the "Camelot of Africa," was the capital of the Ethiopian Empire from the 17th to the 19th centuries. It is renowned for its medieval castles and churches, built by various emperors during this period.

The Simien Mountains: located in northern Ethiopia, are a UNESCO World Heritage site and are often referred to as the "Roof of Africa." They have been formed over millions of years by volcanic activity and erosion, creating the dramatic landscape seen today.

Day 1: Arrival in Addis Ababa

Arrive in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia.

Depending on your arrival time, you can explore some highlights of the city such as the National Museum, Holy Trinity Cathedral, and the Merkato, one of the largest open-air markets in Africa.

Overnight stay in Addis Ababa.

Day 2: Addis Ababa to Bahir Dar

Depart from Addis Ababa early in the morning for Bahir Dar, a drive that takes approximately 8-9 hours.

En route, you'll pass through breath-taking landscapes, including the Blue Nile Gorge and The Holy Debre Libanos Monastery.

Arrive in Bahir Dar in the evening.

Overnight stay in Bahir Dar.

Day 3: Bahir Dar - Blue Nile Falls and Lake Tana

After breakfast, take a boat trip on Lake Tana to visit some of the ancient monasteries located on the islands.

Visit the impressive Blue Nile Falls, locally known as Tis Issat (meaning "smoking Fire").

In the afternoon, explore Bahir Dar town and its vibrant markets.

Day 4: Bahir Dar to Gondar

Drive from Bahir Dar to Gondar, a journey of around 3-4 hours.

Upon arrival in Gondar, visit the Royal Enclosure, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring medieval castles and palaces built by Ethiopian emperors.

Explore the Debre Berhan Selassie Church, famous for its stunning frescoes.

Day 5: Gondar to Simien Mountains National Park

Depart from Gondar early in the morning for the Simien Mountains National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Spend the day exploring the stunning landscapes of the Simien Mountains, known for their dramatic escarpments, deep valleys, and unique wildlife, including the endemic Gelada baboons.

Overnight camping or lodge stay in the Simien Mountains.

Day 6: Simien Mountains to Lalibela

After breakfast, depart from the Simien Mountains and drive to Lalibela, a journey of approximately 7-8 hours.

Arrive in Lalibela in the evening.

Day 7: Lalibela - Rock-Hewn Churches

Spend the day exploring the remarkable rock-hewn churches of Lalibela, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Visit the 11 medieval monolithic churches, including the iconic Church of St. George (Bete Giyorgis), known for its cross-shaped design.

In the afternoon, you may have some free time for leisure or additional exploration.

Late Afternoon: Depart from Lalibela for Addis Ababa (by flight)
